FAQs for Therapists at Blend

What happens in the first session?
Your first session is really about getting to know each other. We’ll talk a little about what’s brought you to therapy and what you’d like to be different. There’s no pressure to share everything straight away — we’ll go at your pace. By the end, you should have a clearer sense of whether I’m the right fit for you, and how we might move forward together.

A good question — and a common one. People often come to therapy when they feel stuck,
overwhelmed, or just know that something isn’t working but can’t quite put their finger on it.
Therapy gives you the space to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement.

Walking therapy is talking therapy outdoors. Instead of sitting in a therapy room at Blend, we walk and talk side by side. For some people, sitting face-to-face with a therapist can feel a bit daunting, whereas walking outdoors often helps the conversation flow more naturally.

Usually, we start with a first session online or at Blend. This gives us space to talk through the practicalities — things like confidentiality, how I work, and any questions you might have. We’ll also agree how to handle things like passing other walkers, where we’ll meet, and what happens if the
weather is particularly bad.

Yes, absolutely. Some people prefer to have a blend (no pun intended!) of walking sessions and indoor sessions, depending on what feels most helpful at the time. We’ll work together to find a balance that suits you.

That’s absolutely fine — lots of people feel the same way. You don’t need to plan or prepare anything. Sometimes just showing up and seeing what comes out in the moment is enough. If you get stuck, I’ll ask gentle questions to help guide the conversation.

Everything we talk about stays between us, with a few legal exceptions around safety (for example, if I was worried you or someone else was at risk of serious harm). I’ll explain all of this clearly in our first session, so you know exactly where you stand.
A therapy session with me lasts 50 minutes. Group sessions and workshops vary — I’ll always let you know timings in advance.
That depends on what you’re looking for. Some people come weekly, others fortnightly, and some dip in and out when they need support. We’ll agree a rhythm that feels manageable for you.

Payment is usually made by bank transfer before the session. I’ll send you the details when you book.

Life happens — but I do ask for 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice are chargeable, as the time is held for you.
Yes. If it’s easier or more comfortable for you, we can work online via Zoom.

Yes — these are some of the most common reasons people come to therapy. Whether it’s looping thoughts, constant stress, people-pleasing, or struggling to say no, we’ll explore what’s keeping you stuck and find ways forward that work for you.
